About Parashar Foundation

Working Since: 2005 | Registration Number: DIT [E]/2007-2008/P-976/3087 DATED 31/12/2007

Inspiring people to pledge their organs for donation after death, passing on the gift of life to others.
The Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India was launched in March 2013 as an initiative of the Parashar Foundation, an NGO based in Delhi.
The Parashar Foundation was set up in 2005 by late Shri Ashok Parashar to help the poor by providing funds to various schools, health centres, and other organizations. In 2013 Creation of Awareness on all aspects Organ Donation & Transplantation became the sole aim of the Foundation.
The reason for this is personal. Our former Chairperson, Late Mrs. Kirti Parashar, was told in 2012 that she needed a heart transplant. Although she had the means, the best doctors and a family who supported her, there was no one organization they could turn to for the most basic help on what to do, where to go, how things work. The wait in Delhi for a heart transplant could have been endless. At the time, there was little awareness of Organ Donation.
Since 2013, the Foundation has focused on creating awareness on Organ Donation under ORGAN (Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network) India.
ORGAN India is also fully supported by the Vijaya Gujral Foundation, an NGO based in Delhi.
Kirti Parashar eventually moved to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, to wait for a new heart, which she thankfully received from an organ donor on December 13th. She got 5 wonderful years with a new heart until we lost her in November 2018.
Our mission remains unwavering:
*To increase/raise awareness on organ donation through information dissemination via various media and platforms such as social media, radio, television, awareness sessions in schools, colleges, hospitals and other institutions, and training others to carry out the programme.
*To educate those suffering from organ failure about their various options, and to help them in their ordeal by offering information, advice, counselling, and helping prevent the illness and death of those with organ failure.
*To influence public policy through advocacy in India by becoming leaders in public awareness and the collaborative efforts of all NGOs in this field.
