Rozi Roti Foundation was born out of a sincere belief that that everyone has a right to the basic necessities of life and that the society has a responsibility to take care of the poor and the destitute. The foundation works specifically with the urban destitute – homeless and slum dwellers in Indian cities. Our mission is to "enable access to basic necessities of life, to those who need it the most."
Rozi Roti Foundation was established by a group of development professionals with significant experience in diverse aspects of international development - including financial inclusion, gender rights, social performance, and livelihoods promotion.
Rozi Roti Foundation was registered on October 2017, as a non-profit under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013. Rozi Roti Foundation is also registered under Sections 12 A and 80 G of the Income Tax Act, making revenues of and donations to the organization tax exempt.
Rozi Roti Foundation commenced operations on 1st March 2018 with the flagship project, Project Annadanam through which food is distributed to the urban destitute through food vans plying fixed routes Indian cities.
Project Annadanam is operational in Hyderabad where it provides food to 100 street dwellers and homeless once a day, six days a week. As on December 31, 2018, Project Annadanam’s food van has distributed over 21,000 meals to the urban destitute in Hyderabad
Project Annadanam’s Food Van distributes the food immediately after sourcing, with minimal time lapse between obtaining and distributing the food. Through this model, it is ensured that food does not need to be stored, minimizing potential for spoilage. Food is distributed to beneficiaries at key aggregation points -religious places, slums, pavements, etc.
